- School: Hartland High School
In 2004, Hartland High School held their Baccalaureate Service at St. Mary Magdalen. In the following years, the service rotated among local parishes from The Father’s House in 2005, All Saints Lutheran in 2006, and Cornerstone Church in 2007. In 2008, the service was held in the high school auditorium and has remained at the high school for the past five years.
The baccalaureate is a farewell addressed in the form of a contemporary service delivered to the graduating class in connection with their commencement ceremonies. It is held the Sunday before graduation. This optional graduation activity is a non-denominational service planned and presented by students. There are inspirational speakers, music, student testimonies, scripture readings and more, all designed to send graduates onto the next phase of their lives with a positive message. The graduating seniors sit together for the service. Cap and gown is encouraged, but optional.
Our local pastors participating in this year’s service are: Pastor Dave Classen from Ore Creek Community Church, Youth Pastor Andy Gibson from West Highland Baptist Church and Darril Holden from Community Bible Church. The students have planned a special tribute to Kendal Lividini. Following the service our local Moms in Prayer provide a reception with punch and desserts.
