Seventeen Hartland High School students received either a first division or second division rating at the State Band solo/ensemble festival March 26 at Lapeer East High School, said school band director Mike Letovsky. The scale ranges from first to fifth, with first being the highest.

First division:

• Erica Mehlberg (oboe solo and duet)
• Matt Milliken (solo and duet with Joey Parks)
• Sabrina Puvalowski (oboe solo and duet)
• Melissa Rex (french horn)
• Destini Sneath/Sarah Allen/Rachel Nicholas (clarinet trio)
• Ray Wheeler (tenor sax)

Second division:

• Elle Andreen (flute)
• Molly Oxner/Kaitlin Suchowesky (clarinet duet)
• Joey Parks (marimba)
• Chris Pumford (marimba)
• David Saunders (tenor sax)
