Hartland Township is encouraging its residents to stay off the newly sprouting grass at the M-59 Athletic Fields. 

Grass needs to remain relatively undisturbed during its first growing season to ensure its future viability.  The grass is in a fragile state and can be damaged from people and pets walking on it.

The Township is planning to install signs around the park asking people to stay off the new grass.

The 64-acre park located along Highland Road near Pleasant Valley Road was built by Hartland Township in conjunction with the Hartland Area Youth Association, Hartland Consolidated Schools, and Hartland Community Soccer. 

The athletic fields are expected to open in the summer of 2013 for use by residents and youth recreation organizations, provided the turf is well established at that time.
