Fired Projectile Hits Car Traveling on I-96

The Livingston County Sheriff's Department is requesting information about an incident involving an unknown firearm firing a projectile and hitting a car Thursday afternoon.

A vehicle driving westbound on I-96 between D-19 and M-59 was struck by a fired projectile from an unknown firearm at about 2:40 p.m. Thursday, according to a press release from the Livingston County Sheriff's Department.

Police say the projectile originated from the southside of I-96, but the exact location is still unknown. The car, which was struck in the rear driver's side door, was driven by a 24-year-old Genesee County resident, who was alone in the car and was uninjured, according to the report.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Det. King at the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department at 517-540-7953.

This case is part of a series.now involving at least 15 or 16 random shootings -- mainly at cars -- since Tuesday night in Livingston, Oakland and Ingham counties. The latest shootings were Thursday night, leading to the announcement of a police task force Friday afternoon.

I predict that whomever released the projectiles will be soon detained.
