Good Morning Hartland — Area Band R&R Gives Holiday Greeting

Check out the weather, fuel prices and more for Dec. 14, 2011.

It's Wednesday. Here are some tidbits of news and information that we hope you'll find useful or entertaining.

Please also don't miss our video greeting (at right) from Rob Pardikes and Rob Dombrowski of R&R, a Hartland area band that performs regularly on Tuesday nights from 6-9:30 p.m. at the Black Rock Bar & Grill.

1. The weather

Watch out for foggy weather until about 1 p.m. under cloudy skies that gives way to some unDecember-like weather where rain and even a thunderstorm is possible this afternoon with a high of 45 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight, the chance of precipitation continues as temps rise to 49 overnight with the return of fog after 4 a.m. It'll be breezy, too, with winds between 20 and 23 miles per hour out of the south southwest.

2. Fuel prices

Here's a quick daily survey of the regular per-gallon price, according to gasbuddy.com —

  • Speedway: $3.33
  • Mobil: $3.43 (cash is 10 cents lower)
  • Shell: $3.49
  • Lowest price at Hickory Ridge and M-59 in Highland: $3.29 at Citgo.
  • Lowest price in the Fenton area: $3.19 at four stations including three on Owen Road at U.S. 23.
  • Lowest price in the Brighton area: $3.19 at the BP station at Lee and Whitmore Lake and at Costco at 6700 Whitmore Lake Rd.

3. New features on Hartland Patch

On Tuesday, we've added some new features on our site, including a place designed to make it easier for you to upload photos and videos called "Your Neighborhood Gallery." It can be found in the top toolbar under "Gallery" or through a direct link at http://hartland.patch.com/gallery.

In addition, we've added a new section for traffic and fuel prices through Mapquest that you can find on our homepage in the top toolbar under "Traffic & Gas" or through a direct link at http://hartland.patch.com/traffic.

Let us know what you think about these additions either by commenting here or emailing me at chris.machniak@patch.com.

4. Hartland man dedicates home holiday display in memory of late wife

Hartland man Robert Kerr is honoring his late wife, Nancy, with a special holiday display, according to an article in the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus.

"I think of the fact that it would have been her last Christmas," he said in the article. "I just love her so much. I had to do it for her."

The newspaper selected the condo, 1459 Northvalley Ct, to introduce a Livingston County Light Tour its featuring.

5. Hartland trivia

Congrats to Michele Semones who correctly answered Tuesday's question — What Hartland youth archer was recently honored by the governor? Answer: Emily Bee.

Wednesday's question: What local organization was formed on Jan. 5, 1988? Please answer in comments.

No, neither of those, although they both have been in the news and the women's club did facilitate some shopping recently … This organization is open daily M-F and is in the village area of Hartland …

That's it … the chamber is the one with a birthday coming up … and with its Christmas tree contest, it's been in several of our articles and its primary function is to help businesses … Hence, my "shopping around" clue on Facebook.
Nice job!
