Hartland Father Wins Rights to Biological Daughter
Daniel Quinn is recognized in court as the biological father to his daughter, Maeleigh.
The Hartland father who has been fighting for rights to his daughter, Maeleigh, won a big battle in court on Monday after a Genesse County judge acknowledged him as the biological father.
Daniel Quinn, who has been fighting for parental rights since 2008, was also granted immediate phone and computer contact by the judge, according to a story from WJRT abc12.com.
In 2008, Quinn’s girlfriend, who at the time was still married to another man, moved to Ohio, taking their young daughter with her.
Quinn went to court but was told that because of a 1956 Michigan law, he had no rights to his daughter and could not be legally recognized as the parent. Instead, parental rights were given to the husband of Maeleigh's mother.
In June, 2012, Gov. Rick Snyder signed a set of bills which reversed the 1956 law and gave Quinn standing in court.

In Australia they have just issued a State apology for the forced adoption of tens of thousands of children from the 1950s to the 1970s . During this period an unwed mother or couple would have the child stolen from them and given to married couples as this was deemed in the best interests of the child. This situation in America is the contemporary equivalent . Fathers across the globe are often disenfranchised in the wared perception of best interests of the child. A biological father takes second place to the preferred status of husband and wife as can be seen by the numerous rulings across the states of America. Will one day the relevant states iacross the world ssue an apology to the millions of biological fathers unjustly amputated from their children through the warped use of the childs best interest?,,, It's a slow burn for justice
