Hartland Schools Closed for Snow Day
Hartland Consolidated Schools are closed on Friday, Feb 8.
The Hartland School District canceled classes on Friday, citing poor road conditions following a February winter storm that dumped four to seven inches of snow on Metro Detroit.
The district announced the school closing, due to weather and poor driving condititions.
The snow began in Hartland early Friday with snow starting to fall around 1 a.m.according to local weather reports.
School officials have said previously that the driveability of country roads as well as in subdivisions and neighborhoods are key factors in whether to close the district following a snow storm.
Message from Hartland Consolidated Schools website:
Due to inclement weather conditions and poor road conditions, we have decided it necessary to cancel school for today, Friday, February 8, 2013. Hartland Pre-School and Community Education activities are all cancelled for today as well, however, the Hartland Child Care Center is open.
Today's forecast calls more snow, according to the National Weather Service, with snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
