Hartland Schools Submits Security Plan Regarding MEAP Testing

Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Hartland Schools Chuck Hughes said they are now waiting for the state to review the plan.

Hartland Consolidated Schools has submitted a security plan regarding MEAP testing to the Michigan Department of Education.

Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Hartland Schools Chuck Hughes said they are now waiting for the state to review the plan.

"The state had requested we come up with an outlined plan on how we will ensure that everybody understands the security measures and protocols in place for testing," Hughes said. "So our job was to capture in writing how we were going to go about doing that, following the integrity manuals from the state."

Hughes said that standard training requires that all building principals are trained on the security measures for the Michigan Educational Assessment Program tests who in turn, will train their staff.

"My role will be to monitor the situation," Hughes said. "Monitor the buildings and the security locations and ensure that everybody is following those protocols."

Hughes says the state has confirmed they have received the plan and he expects to receive some feedback sometime before October after it's reviewed.
