La Herradura Mexican Grill & Bar Opens in Hartland Plaza

Hartland Township is one of several Michigan locations for this family-owned restaurant.

La Herradura Mexican Grill & Bar opened quietly on Jan. 31 and its manager says business has steadily been growing ever since.

"We are having a slow opening," manager Erik Herrera said. "We're still fixing some things and making sure we have everything ready for a grand opening."

Located near Dollar Tree at 10574 Highland Road in the Hartland Plaza, the restaurant features bright Spanish decor with hand carved booths and chairs from Mexico. They have 12 employees and will add to that as business dictates.

La Herradura, which means the horseshoe in Spanish, has other Michigan locations in Novi and Kalamazoo. All are part of a larger group of restaurants owned by a family originally from Guadalajara, Mexico. Herrera says the restaurant is not a chain, but addtional family members have similar restaurants in Mississippi, Ohio and Chicago.

The restaurant has yet to advertise, but Herrera says business is getting better every day. Daily food and drink specials will be introduced soon, but the menu lists lunch specials, a full dinner menu, kids plates, dessert and a few American food choices such as a cheeseburger and chicken sandwich.

La Herradura has a full bar with Miller, Bud Light and Dos Equis on tap.

"And margaritas,” Herrera said. "We have really good margaritas."

La Herradura is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. until 9:30 p.m.; Friday 11 a.m. until 10:30 p.m.; Saturday 11:30 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. and Sunday 11:30 a.m. until 9 p.m.

Stacy was getting the interview as I was walking in for lunch!! She never stops working!! lolol!! It was a fantastic place to eat. A welcoming decor which is fabulous and the service was very friendly and fast. The lunch I had was a quesadilla with rice and beans along with the chips and salsa they first bring you when you sit down!! Very yummy and authentic. Priced to match any fast food in the area for lunch. I will be taking my family and friends there for dinner for sure! Congratulations to La Herradura and may your business be plentiful!!

We ate at La Herradura tonight for the first time and loved it. Our waiter was friendly, service was good, food delivered quickly. The pork and chicken enchiladas are "delicias." The decor is pleasing, very bright and authentic. It is WAY better than the local competition (don't even bother with the nearest competitor in Hartland. I have eaten in Mexicantown, and in some of the best Mexican restuaramts in the southwest. La Herradura is definitely the best in these parts!! And we will be back, for sure.

Waited 45 minutes to have our order taken, please. Not sure why we waited, let's see how long it takes to get our food. The only reason we are staying is because we have to pick our daughter up. My advice is to stay away on a Friday night:(

It was prom night. And they had a band. It was the busiest I've ever seen it there tonight.
