The Hartland Township Board of Trustees approved the resolution to issue one of the three available liquor licenses to Tony Sacco’s Coal Oven Pizza during Tuesday night’s township meeting.
While site plans for the new location will still need approval, James Womack, owner of four Buffalo Wild Wings restaurants, including the Howell location, was present during last night’s meeting to answer questions and present plans to the board.
Moving in to the former Blockbuster location, the pizzeria will be a sit-down restaurant with a capacity for 104 diners and will include plans for outdoor patio seating as well.
Depending on when the plans are presented and approved, Womack told the board he hopes to have the new restaurant open “before football season.”

Another place to buy Liquor in Hartland! Maybe Menards should sell Liquor then then would be able to build in Hartland!

This place serves excellent food. It's not "fine dining" but certainly worth trying.

Good one, Don. Think a Menards or Movie theater or even a family-type restaurant would better serve Hartland residents. We already have too many pizza places in the Hartland area.

It IS a very family oriented restaurant, not a "booze" place. The food is fresh and excellent pizza. In addition, they work closely with the local community, particularly on fund raising for schools. Check it out before you pre-judge please.

The township doesn't get to decide what businesses best serve residents. Any business that complies with the zoning and building standards can open. They don't get to decide "we'd rather have a family restaurant", or "we'd rather have a Menard's".

I am glad to see the empty space at Blockbuster filled and it sounds like a great regional restauranteur and we should be welcoming them. . . . And I agree with Hartland Eagle, it's not up to the Township to pick winners and losers as long as people follow the rules.
But Peggy is right, though, that they'll be facing plenty of competition and unless we see more residential development sooner rather than later we might see some of our favorites not make it.

I also patronize restaurants that have fresh salad bars and healthy foods. I shop where the shelves are full with what I need and have police to keep me safe. I avoid parking my car in parking lots of restaurants that serve liquor. But thats just me.
