Vision for Vacancies: What Business Should Locate Here?

What should go in the former Blockbuster location?

Starting this week, Hartland Patch is beginning a new feature: Visions for Vacancies. Every week or so, we will be posting a picture of a vacant store or empty space around Hartland and asking you what you want to see there.

This is your chance to tell us what business you want to see move in to the Hartland area and why.

First up is the former Blockbuster location in the Shops at Waldenwoods shopping center.

The Blockbuster store in Hartland announced it would close it's doors in February, 2011 leaving the area without a traditional stand-alone video store.

Patch wants to know: What's your vision for this building?

I think a Red Lobster would be a terrific addition to the Hartland area. What a great draw. The closest ones to the area are in Flint and Pontiac.

A book store. For me it's inconvenient to always drive to Brighton for a $5 book!

Big ditto on the missing Hartland Pizza. But the Village Pizza guy has awesome pizza now, so I'd be torn if the former came back.

I wish there were some choices that weren't advocating big chain stores. One of the reasons we moved to Hartland was to get away from that environment, remember?

Have to laugh...when I first moved to Hartland 16 years ago, all we had was a strip of fast food and Farmer Jack's. Miss those days!

What are they doing to are teeny tiny town? Whenever I look at where they're putting the fields it breaks my heart (land).

A few suggestions: a gun shop, paws shop or a bar/night club

I completely agree! I need a good bar locally where I can test my pick-up lines.
