Weekend Planner: 'Elvis,' Harry Potter, Ladies' Night Out, Swing Dance and More

Here's a look at what's happening around town this weekend.

 

1. 'JUKEBOX SATURDAY NIGHT' FEATURES POMA'S 'ELVIS'

Where: Hartland Educational Support Service Center, 9525 E Highland Rd, Howell

When: 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13

Cost: $10 (tickets are available at the Hartland Senior Center, Schafer’s House of Music in Howell and Brighton Tux in Brighton as well as at the door)

Why go: Hear local artists perform, including 50s and 60s music by Elvis tribute artist Tony Poma as well as The Livingston Lamplighters Barbershop Quartets, The Jesters and the group Noteworthy.

2. SEE 'HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS, PART 2' AT CROMAINE LIBRARY

Where: Main branch of the Cromaine District Library

When: Show is 6:30 p.m. Friday. Enter prior to the library closing at 6 p.m.

Special Registration: Cost is free, but there are only a limited number of tickets available that you can register online or in person at the Youth Department desk.

Why go: Attend a family-friendly showing of the Harry Potter finale ... a month before you can rent it from the library.

3. LADIES' NIGHT OUT

Where: Hartland Educational Support Service Center, 9525 E Highland Road, Howell

When: 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11

Cost: Free

Why go: Choose from vendors including food, therapeutic massage, jewelry, herbal wraps and more.

4. MAX BONTEKOE BENEFIT

Where: Spicer Orchards Farm Market, 10411 Clyde Rd, Fenton

When: 5-11 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12

Cost: $25 for adults and $10 for children 12 and younger; please RSVP in advance to benefitforMAX@gmail.com

Why go: Aid in this young man's continued recovery while enjoying a pig roast (only the first 200 people get this), doughnuts, cider and live entertainment

5. SWING DANCE

Where: Hartland High School, 10635 Dunham Rd, Hartland, MI

When: 7-10:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11

Cost: $5 for students/seniors, $10 for adults, or $25 for families

Why go: Enjoy this dance open to the entire community as well as excellent live swing bands including the renowned Ambassadors Big Band! Food and drink are free with admission.
