2. MADRIGAL DINNER AT PARKER HIGH SCHOOL
Where: Parker Middle School, 400 Wright Road, Howell
When: 5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4
Cost: $18 for adults and seniors; $15 for students; children under five admitted free
Why go: How often do you get a chance to hear madrigal music? Thought so.
3. ANNUAL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH TURKEY DINNER
Where: Hartland United Methodist Church, 10300 Maple Rd, Hartland
When: 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5 (eat in or carry out)
Cost: $10 for adults; $5 for kids ages 6-11 and children five and younger eat free; please call ahead for reservations at 810-632-7476.
Why go: This long-standing tradition at Hartland United Methodist Church features a turkey dinner with all the trimmings, including wonderful homemade pies and cakes. All profits will go to various charities supported by the Hartland United Methodist Women.
4. HARTLAND ROTARY CHILI COOKOFF
Where: Epley Park
When: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5 (or as long as chili lasts)
Cost: Free to attend; (registration to compete ended Oct. 29)
Why go: Help decide upon the $100, $50 and $25 prize-winning chilis and aid Hartland Rotary in raising funds.
Where: Cromaine Library CrossRoads Branch
When: 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5
Cost: Free, but must call 810-632-5200 to register
Why go: Hunting expert Timothy Pifher will give you a few reminder tips to keep you safe during deer hunting season
