Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Southeastern Michigan

Expect snow and a mix of freezing rain Sunday night and into Monday morning.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for much of southeastern Michigan, including Livingston County. The advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. Sunday night until 6 a.m. Monday morning.

According to the NWS, Michigan can expect to see snow showers changeover to a mix of snow and freezing rain around midnight. Air temperatures are then expected to rise above freezing by 3 a.m., which will then support another changeover to rain.

Ice accumulations of up to a tenth of an inch are possible, mainly on elevated surfaces. Snowfall accumulations of 1 to 2 inches will be possible in some areas, including Brighton and Hartland.

According to the NWS, here's what to watch out for:

  • Untreated road surfaces may become snow covered and slippery during the evening and overnight hours
  • Untreated steps and walkways may pose a hazard to pedestrians

I hope the superintendent is aware of this! I'm not sure how I feel sending my children off to school if the roads will be as bad as they say!
