Woman Headed to Jail for Drunk Driving Crash that Injured 1-Year-Old in Tyrone Township

Woman will serve one year in jail and spend three years on probation.

A Waterford woman will serve one year of jail time after she injured her 1-year-old daughter in a drunk driving crash in Tyrone Township in July.

Teddyjo Fliam will serve one year in Livingston County Jail and three years probation after pleading guilty to operation under the influence causing serious injury and and failure to maintain security for having no insurance, according to WHMI.

Police arrived on scene near Center Road and Old US 23 to find Fliam and her daughter thrown from their 1997 Toyota Four Runner, police told Patch in July.

Police say the girl was thrown from the vehicle because she was not properly restrained in her car seat. Fliam’s 4-year-old son, however, was still in the car when police arrived on scene, and was wearing his seat belt.

Witnesses told police that Fliam ran a stop sign at Old US 23 and then continued driving westbound on Center Road where she crossed the center line. Fliam then swerved to avoid an oncoming car, according to the report, overcompensated and ran off the road where she lost control. Fliam’s car overturned after striking an embankment on the south side of the road, police said.

Results from a breath test taken on scene showed Fliam’s blood alcohol content to be .185, according to the sheriff’s department, which is slightly over two times the legal limit in Michigan of .08.

she is a decent person that made a mistake. while a punishment is well deserved she will be haunted withy what could have happened for the rest of her life. people generally cant speak on a situation when only given the facts from the prosicution.
