About this column:
Every Saturday, Brighton and Hartland Patches highlight a pet from the Humane Society of Livingston County. If you want to adopt a new best friend, call (517) 552-8050 or stop by the facility in Genoa Township, 2464 Dorr Rd, open noon-8 p.m. Mon., and noon-5 p.m. Wed.-Sun. Closed Tuesdays.Hello, my name is Miss Gobbles. I was born around 8/2011 and then adopted in 4/2012. I'm back at the shelter because my owner is pregnant. I'm not sure why I couldn't stay. I am a great girl who loves attention when I'm in a home. I'm just a little scared here so I hope I get adopted soon. I've lived in a home with small kids but much prefer older kids and adults. I've always been the only pet so I'm not sure how I would do with other animals.
Hello, my name is Jersey. I'm a sweet girl who has spent her whole life outdoors as a breeding dog. There were several others like me who were taken away from our previous owner for cruelty charges. He didn't take very good care of us and most of us are heart worm positive including me. I get along well with other dogs and don't seem to mind cats. I'm a little nervous around young kids but do fine with older kids. Because I've been mostly outdoors I'm probably not house trained but I am food motivated so training should be very easy. The HSLC shelter will treat my heart worm for no extra cost…
They call me Black Jack and I am quite an interesting fellow. I am a very cool, sleek, male cat with Bombay characteristics born around May 2009. I have been living at the Humane Society most of my life so the staff knows me well. I am very friendly, super playful, and can be quite entertaining. I like to keep active so would do best in a home with another young active cat, kitten, or tolerant dog who would play with me. It would be really great if you could adopt me along with a new kitten or one of my cat pals from the cage-free room! I do not really like to be picked up or held so would …
Hello, my name is Princess. I'm a gorgeous long-haired Tortie who was brought in with two other cats whose names are Willow and Bandit. Our owner found us as kittens and recently gave us up for having too many animals. I'm on the shy and timid side but will open up once I get acclimated slowly into my next home. We haven't been around children at all or dogs. I am used to scratching on a scratching post so I hope my new family has one for me.
Hi, my name is Phoebe. I am a short-haired dilute calico who was born around 2008. I was given up by my owner because someone in the home had allergies to me. I am a very sweet cat but am shy at first. When I first get into a new situation, I will take time to warm up. Once I do, I act like a dog and love to interact with my human. I've been around all ages of kids and have also lived with another cat.
Hello, my name is Tri-Pod and, if you guessed I'm missing a leg, you're correct! I was born around 2007 and am a very large girl. I would certainly benefit from weight loss as I could groom myself better and not have to hold up so much weight on 3 legs. I was in my last home with another cat and got along just fine with her. We didn't like the new dog so we ended up living in the basement and were very unhappy. My owner decided to keep the other cat who was 17 years old and had little chance of being adopted. There were children in my last home and my owner reported that I did well with them…
Hello, my name is Satin. I'm a sleek black cat whose fur is soft to the touch like satin. That's how I got my name. I'm estimated to have been born around 2009. I've lived with other animals and also do well with kids. I arrived at the shelter after my owner passed away and no one would take me.
Hi, my name is Petunia. I'm as pretty as the flower after which I was named, too. It's estimated that I was born around 2008. When I was left at the shelter, my fur was so badly matted that I had to be shaved. My fur will grow back. I am a sweet girl who would likely get along with other animals and children in a new home.
Hi, my name is Bubbles. I'm a 4-year-old spayed female. I was brought in with a litter of kittens.I was originally found as a stray and was pregnant. The man who found me kept me and the kittens and now we are all looking for homes. I'm a sweet girl who loves people. My kittens names are Curly Q, Gidget and Cola.
Hello, my name is Romeo although Juliet would be more appropriate. I'm a female who was found as a stray. The people who found me and took care of me thought I was a male. They named me Romeo because I'm such a lover. It doesn't matter what you call me, though, I'll respond to anything especially when you have attention you want to give. I was around young children and also dogs and other cats. I have a birth date sometime around 4/2011.
Hello. My name is Baby. I'm a pretty gray and white cat who was born around 3/2007. I was given up after my owner moved and her roommate said I had to go. I don't really get along well with other cats but do get along with dogs. I lived with kids as young as 2 years old. I seem to do okay but may prefer older kids if possible. I'm affectionate with adults and can be vocal at times.
Hi, I'm Denver. I am a short-haired, young male cat who was born around 5/2012. I arrived at the shelter a few months ago and can't understand why I'm still waiting for a home. I have been on my best behavior and always look like I have a smile on my sweet face. I get along with other cats so well that I am part of the cage-free cat area at the shelter. I am really anxious to see what having a real home and someone to love me is like so please spread the word about me.
Hello. My name is Tilly. I'm a very beautiful long-haired female cat. I was born around 2007 and weigh almost 15 pounds so I'm a rather big girl. I was adopted to an elderly person but recently returned because she was unable to care for me any longer. I've always been the only pet so it's unknown how well I'd do around other animals in a home. I'd prefer either older kids or adults only in my next home as I don't have the type of personality that does well with little ones.
Hi, my name is Georgia. I'm a pretty Tortie who was born around 2010. I'm on the petite side at just about 6 1/2 pounds. I was brought in with a litter of kittens and was such a wonderful mom to them and even some orphaned kittens. I'm now anxious to find a home where I'll be spoiled. I would likely do fine with children and other cats but I'm not sure how I'd feel about dogs.
Hello. My name is Effie. I'm a 3-year-old long-haired cat. I am a spayed female that is not declawed. I was cruelly shoved out of a car along with another cat in a grocery store parking lot. Thankfully an employee witnessed this and cared enough to take care of us for a few weeks until she was able to get a hold of us and lead us to safety. Because our uncaring owner abandoned us, there's no history on us. I'm quite scared here but the staff says who could blame me after what happened?
Hello, my name is Retro. I'm a long-haired brown tiger who was found as a stray. I am estimated to have been born around 2006. When found, I was quite thin. I also have a kink in my tail. It's unknown if I've ever been around other animals or kids but I seem to like everyone I've met so far.
My name is Mocha. I'm a long-haired Tortie that was born around June, 2005. I'm front declawed, too. I was given up because my owner moved into a home with people who were allergic to me so I had to find a new home. I have been around children but prefer adults in a quieter home setting. I haven't lived with other cats but have lived with a dog. I'm a little stressed here so I hope I get adopted soon.
My name is Angel. I'm a short-haired, sweet white cat that was born around 2005. I'm a calm, quiet and sometimes shy girl that would be happiest in a quiet home. In fact, I'd make an ideal lap-cat for a senio home. I haven't been around other animals or children in my previous home but, I do seem to get along ok with some of the other gentle cats here at the shelter. My owners gave me up because they were moving. I sure would like to find my special someone who will give me a good home in exchange for a little "heaven on earth."
Hi, my name is Beeker. I'm a short-haired black and white neutered male. I was born around 2010 and weigh just about 8 1/2 pounds. I was left abandoned so no one knows much about me. I seem a little timid and would likely do best in a quieter home. I haven't really been around other animals so we aren't sure how well I'd be in a home with them.
Hello. My name is Rose and I'm a sweet short-haired female cat. I was born around 1/2011. I was given to a family that had kids and I did great. They had me only one day, though, before deciding that having a pet was too costly. You won't need to worry too much about that with me because I have been spayed, have all my shots, and a micro chip too. I seem to be an easy-going cat that gets along nicely with other cats and would fit well into just about any home.
