Heritage Scarecrows Return to Hartland

The winner of the 2013 Hartland Area Scarecrow Contest will be announced during Heritage Day activities this Saturday.

Helping to celebrate Heritage Day in Hartland, local businesses will be displaying homemade scarecrows and asking the community to vote for their favorites by visiting any participating location and filling out a ballot.

Sponsored by the Hartland Chamber of Commerce, here are four things to know about the Hartland Area Scarecrow Contest.

1. With three categories to choose from, the public is asked to choose which scarecrow is the:

  • Most Historic
  • Most interesting
  • Most Colorful
2. Winners will be announced on Heritage Day, Saturday, September 21 around 12 p.m. as part of the day’s activities.

3. All Chamber of Commerce members, community nonprofits, school groups, churches, retail and other businesses are invited to create a scarecrow for display at their business.

4.  Scarecrows will be on display for the community at various locations from September 13 through September 22.
