“This is our third season hosting this event while we not only exceeded our fundraising goals in 2009 and 2010, we have increased our participation this year as well,” said Joe Kocur, President of the Detroit Red Wings Alumni Association. “With the help of the North West Oakland County businesses and exciting post-event entertainment, we anticipate increasing our event attendance in 2011.”

During the event, participants can enjoy food and beverage provided by local businesses as well as entertainment by local celebrities. Prizes will be awarded during the games, while attendees can also join in on the silent auction filled with fabulous items to bid on.

Between games, you can get an autograph from your favorite Red Wing or local celebrity. Kids will have their own baseball diamond filled with fun events and plenty of attractions. Various viewing bleachers and tents will be set up along the path near all 4 diamonds for supporters to watch and cheer their favorite charity or local public services. We recommend bringing lawn chairs as bleacher space is limited.

The charity softball game will feature Detroit Red Wings Alumni, Detroit area celebrities, law enforcement officials and firefighters from Milford, White Lake and Oakland County. Celebrity Players Confirmed to date: Joe Kocur, Darren McCarty, Dave Coulier, Brian Smolinski, Kevin Miller, Wayne Presley, Jason Woolley, Eddie Mio, Kirk Maltby, Manny Legace and George Bowman.

All tickets will be available for purchase at the police and fire departments listed above as well as Bakers of Milford, South Lyon Hotel and the Comeback Inn of Highland. For more information please email Jkkc4@yahoo.com or call 248-877-0938.

Tickets may be purchased online at www.wingseastmi.org.

Advance tickets are $10 per person; cost is $15.00 per person at the door and all children under 10 are admitted free of charge.

All tickets will go into a drawing for raffle prizes that will be awarded throughout the day. Proceeds will benefit local charities such as: Whaley’s Children Center in honor of Dominick Calhoun, Camp Quality USA in honor of Kendal Lividini, Wings of Mercy East Michigan, and the Lakeland High School Public Service Scholarship for a student going into law enforcement or fire fighting in honor of Shannon Silverthorn.
