Good Morning, Hartland: Chuck Hughes

Check out the weather, fuel prices and more for Feb. 16.

1. Today's weather
Today’s National Weather Service forecast for the Hartland area, is for a high of 40 degrees with an 80 percent chance of rain/snow. Tonight's forecast is a low of 26, with a 30 percent chance of snow.

2. The cost of filling the tank
Gas prices in the Hartland area were at a low of $3.41 per gallon Wednesday evening, according to Detroitgasprices.com. The station offering this price was Speedway, 10070 Highland Road, in Hartland. The second-lowest price per gallon was $3.48, at Shell, 10440 Highland Road, in Hartland. And Mobil, 10050 Clyde Road in Hartland, had gasoline for $3.51 per gallon.

3. LEGACY Program for at-risk students is growing
Hartland Consolidated Schools hosts the LEGACY alternative education program for high school students, at 9525 Highland Road, Hartland. Principal Kirk Evenson told the Board of Education, on Monday, that the program had 148 students at the last count (still unaudited). Of these, about 60 of them are from Hartland High School. There is an 85 percent graduation rate at LEGACY, which administrators would like to continue to improve upon.

4. Join the club
The meets at 6:30 p.m. today, at Grille 23, 1535 Old U.S. 23, in Howell. New members are always welcome, and the club invites those who are interested to attend its meeting and find out what the Lions do for the Hartland Community. Guests can purchase a meal at Grille 23, and annual dues for Lions Club members are $72 per person, with a $20 discount for a husband and wife joining the club together.

5. Trivia
Congratulations to an anonymous participant, who corrected answered, “The Home Front,” for Wednesday’s question, “The Cromaine District Library in Hartland shares that which book was No. 1 last week on The New York Times’ bestseller list for hardcover fiction?” And Thursday’s question is, “Hartland Lions Club, like other Lions International Clubs, helps people with what type of impairments?”
