Good Morning Hartland

Check out the weather, fuel prices and more for Jan. 16, 2012.

It's Monday and today we celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Here are some tidbits of news and information that we hope you'll find useful or entertaining.

1. The weather

There is a 40 percent chance of rain after 1pm, according to the National Weather Service, with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 37. Moving in to the evening hours, more rain likely, possibly mixed with snow. Cloudy, with a low around 34. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Here's a quick daily survey of the regular per-gallon price, according to gasbuddy.com —

  • : $3.62
  • Shell: $3.73
  • Mobil: $3.72
  • Lowest price at Highland Rd and Hickory Ridge in Highland: $3.41 at Citgo.
  • Lowest price in the Fenton area: $3.45 at the Marathon station at Silver Lake and Lincoln.
  • Lowest price in the Brighton area: $3.37 at Costco at 6700 Whitmore Lake Rd.

3. 

A special Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration & March takes place in Milford today starting at 1 pm. A march, starting at Prospect Hill shopping center lot will end with a program at Milford park. The theme for the seventh annual celebration is centered on a King quote inscribed on the new MLK Memorial in Washington D.C. that says “out of the mountain of despair, a stone of hope.”

4. Hartland Grad Completes Marine Corps Training

U.S. Marine Corps Pfc. James K. Walker, a 2011 Hartland High School alumni, graduated from basic training in South Carolina, according to the Press & Argus. Walker is the son of Laura and Jeff Walker of Hartland Township.
