Hartland Grad Continues To Pursue Her Love of Music

Emily Rooker is making a name for herself by performing at local venues in the Boston area.

, a 2011 Hartland graduate who made a name for herself performing at local venues around Hartland is continuing on her musical journey.

A freshman at Boston University, Rooker was highlighted by Studio Sessions records, which features student artists and their music as part of Boston University's independent online magazine, The Quad.

In a story recently published by The Quad, Rooker's sound is described as being, “Super folky!,” “You sound kind of like Adele…” or simply as “pretty.”

Rooker, who debuted her first album, Late Night Secrets, in August at the Howell Opera House, is a music major at BU.

That same month, just days before leaving for college, Rooker told the Hartland Patch that her decision to pursue music wasn't an easy one.

“At first I wasn’t going to do music at all because I was going to do something that was practical. I was going to do something that could get me a job,” Emily said. “And then, my mom and my boyfriend were like, ‘That’s stupid. You do what you love and hope you can make a difference in the world by doing that.’”

According to The Quad, Rooker is looking forward to performing again at local venues in the Boston area.
