'Love Stories' Fundraiser Will Help Raise Money for Hartland's Museum

Tickets are on sale now for the Feb. 15 event that will take place at Waldenwoods.

Looking for a new way to help celebrate your Valentine's Day this year? The Hartland Area Historical Society may just have the answer.

This year's annual fundraiser is focused around the theme of "Love Stories" and will be held Feb. 15 at Waldenwoods Banquet and Conference Center.

And what better way to represent love and Valentine's Day than with wedding memorabilia? Which is why the Florence B. Dearing Museum Director Hildy Foley says attendees are encouraged to add their own ambiance to the event by bringing wedding dresses or photos.

Vintage Valentine's Day cards are also encouraged and light music will be playing throughout the event which will help add to the mood of romance and love, according to Foley.

Proceeds raised from the event will help with improvement projects the museum has planned for the upcoming year which include a major foundation repair and paint for the building.

"It's helping to preserve the history and heritage of Hartland," Foley said. "I think it's important that we preserve that for future generations and that's why we encourage people to come and see the museum. We have some very neat displays."

Tickets are $50 per person and reservations are appreciated but tickets will be sold at the door. For more information, contact the Florence B. Dearing Museum or Hildy Foley at 810-229-7621.

The event begins with a cocktail reception at 6 p.m. followed by a dinner and light music at 7 p.m.

The evening will also include a silent auction and door prizes including a custom stained glass panel, a Detroit Tiger Miguel Cabrera Triple Crown Winner T-shirt, and a personal signed copy of the book, Detroit's Historic Places of Worship.

The historical society would appreciate the donation of door prizes and other items to be used in the silent auction which will run concurrently with the dinner.
