PHOTO GALLERY: Grille 23 Car Show Revs Up Monday Nights

The Fast Eddie Band provided the music while area car buffs enjoyed classic cars and good food.

Car enthusiasts from South Lyon to Iosco Township cruised to Grille 23 in Hartland on Monday night for its weekly car show.

The sunny weather brought many first timers, including Mel and Teresa Kaminsky of Hartland and their 1955 Chevy Nomad Bel Air.

“This is our first time here,” said Teresa Kaminsky.

“The Mustang is a woman’s car,” he said. “Woman love ‘em – they’re ice cream-getters!”

According to Brittnie Windel, who was waitressing for Grille 23, there were plenty of classic cars to see.

“This is the most cars I’ve seen! This is definitely the best turnout car-wise this year,” Windel said.

There was a good variety of different types of cars to see, including the 1981 Chevette owned by Gary Spock of Brighton.

“This car was judged the best in the world by Car and Driver in the June 2011 issue,” he said.

He had a copy of the article to prove it.

On the other end of the spectrum, Peter Shilland of Commerce Township brought his candy apple red 2009 Corvette Calloway. Shilland said he bought it last year but has only taken it out a couple of times.

Several people from the Woodward Tri Five Cruisers were in attendance, including Fast Eddie Swamba from the Fast Eddie Band. Their Chevys were prominently displayed throughout the show area of the parking lot.
