  • Cost: Free
  • Why go: Enjoy jazz music and 15 barbecue vendors, grilling their savory specialties, as well as non-barbecue vendors and restaurants.

  • Where: Seligman Performing Arts Center
  • When: Saturday
  • Cost: $30- $60
  • Why go: The legendary Juilliard String Quartet will open the 69th season of the Chamber Music Society of Detroit on Saturday, September 8, 2012, at 8:00 p.m. performing string quartets by Beethoven.

  • Where: Highland
  • When: Saturday and Sunday
  • Cost: Free
  • Why go: Family friendly, pet friendly event with children's activities and Mutt Strut.

Dogfest 2012

  • Where: Arise Church in Pinkney
  • When: Saturday
  • Cost: $10
  • Why go: Children’s Activities, Doghouse bounce, face painting, games, DOGFEST Doggie Mall, Doghouse Café, Triathlon Course open to all. The Arise Community Dog Park is a free, open to the public dog park. It is a 2 acre fenced in area where dog owners can bring their dogs for unleashed socialization, exercise and play with other dogs. It is located at 11211 Dexter-Pinckney Rd.
