This weekend, a portion of the profits from Dionysus Theatre's debut production Home for the Holidays will go back to the community.
Now through Dec. 23, 10 percent of proceeds will go to Gleaners Food Bank to help feed the hungry this Christmas.
An additional ten percent of proceeds will to help the Ashinger family. Russ Ashinger was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer, so the donation will go to help pay for his medical bills, according to Steve DeBruyne, Dionysus Theatre's owner and artistic director.
When the cast of Home for the Holidays gathers for their Christmas Eve performance, Stage Manager, Nick and his wife expect a smooth evening of seasonal fun. What they get is a leading lady who has locked herself in her dressing room, her understudy who isn’t quite up to the job, and a leading man whose holiday spirit is closer to that of the Grinch than Kris Kringle. This original musical takes you backstage with the cast, as Nick tries to reinstate their faith in the holidays with a lot of Christmas spirit and a touch of magic.
Performances of Home for the Holidays are Friday at 8 p.m.; Saturday at 2 p.m. and at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. and take place at the Hartland High School Auditorium, 10635 Dunham Rd. Hartland MI, 48353.
Tickets cost $28 for adults; $25 for seniors and children 18 and under. Groups of 15 people or more cost $22 each. Tickets for all performances may be purchased by visiting www.diotheatre.com or by calling 517-672-6009. Tickets may also be purchased at the door.
