Scholars' Day Features Spelling Bee

At the Fowlerville Fair Thursday, July 28, it’s Scholars’ Day, with free admission offered to students making the honor roll.

A letter from the school or newspaper clipping showing their name are required. Home school students must bring something showing their equivalent. Sponsored by Ventra of Fowlerville

Beginning of Life exhibit, open all day, is sponsored by Livingston County Farm Bureau and the 4-H Hands-on Learning Experience - Little Red Barn opens at 10 a.m. and runs all day.

Starting at 8 a.m., enjoy competitive events such as the 8 a.m. 4-H Western Horse Show - Horse Show Arena and the 4-H Beef Show - Livestock Arena at 9 a.m.

The 9 a.m. hour starts registration for one of the day's major highlights: the community spelling bee. Please register by going to the Coughran School House (in the fairgrounds’ historical village).

Competition heats up as scholars’ events, beginning at 10 a.m. include 4-H public speaking demonstrations in Finlan Gazebo as well as the spelling bee.

Beginning at noon, there's bingo in the Bingo Gazebo, sponsored by the Fowlerville Band Boosters, the horse drill team event - Horse Show Arena, and the Draft Horse Pull - Light Weight Championship, a free event in the Grandstand.

Chase's Racing Pigs, sponsored by RheTech perform at noon, 2 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

At 1 p.m., the midway/carnival area opens and the Open Class Beef Show gets underway.

My Adventure Theater, sponsored by Jimmy John's of Howell, performs at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Cloverbud Mentoring Program and Graduation Ceremony take place at 5 and 6 p.m., respectively, in the Livestock Arena.

See musician Dewayne Spaw for free 6 p.m. with paid $10 gate admission to the 8 p.m. USA Enduro Races/Derby in the Grandstand, which, along with the 9 p.m. 4-H Dance in the Livestock Arena close out the day’s events.
