Youth Music Scholarship Competition

All Livingston County high school music students (including those home schooled) are invited to participate in the LSO’s fourth annual scholarship competition at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18 at Shalom Lutheran Church in Pinckney.

Applicants must play an instrument found in a traditional symphony orchestra (strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion). No piano or voice, please.

  • Applicant must be a current high school student in grades 9-12.
  • Applicant must be a resident of Livingston County.
  • Applicants must apply via email sending name, address, telephone, school, grade, and instrument by Feb. 8 to the following address: LSOScholarship@gmail.com
  • Audition Requirements:

  • Applicant must perform a solo work that represents their level of accomplishment.
  • Performed work must be under 10 minutes accompanied or unaccompanied.
  • Applicant must provide two copies of music being performed for the judges.
  • First prize is a $500 music scholarship to a summer program of choice (e.g. Blue Lake) and the chance to perform at the Livingston Symphony Orchestra Winter Concert.

    Second prize is a similar $350 music scholarship.
