Hartland Players Main Stage to Present Vagina Monologues

The show is this weekend and the next, in the historic Hartland Music Hall.

The Hartland Players Main Stage announce that they will present Eve Ensler's internationally-renowned "The Vagina Monologues" this weekend and the next.

The Vagina Monologues has been described as an emotional roller coaster ride that blends humor with heartrending stories told from the perspective of women around the world.

Written by award-winning actress Eve Ensler, who is also a playwright and political activist, the play takes audiences on an imaginative journey as women reflect upon the condition of being female in diverse cultures. Monologues range from comical and uplifting to insightful and touching.

Performances are set for 8 p.m. today and Saturday, and 8 p.m. Feb. 24 and 25, in the historic Hartland Music Hall. A portion of the proceeds will go to LACASA, a nonprofit organization that provides help and hope for survivors of child abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault.

"We applaud The Hartland Players for taking on this challenging and inspiring production," said Robin O'Grady, LACASA communications director. "Eve Ensler's work continues to be instrumental in raising awareness about women's issues and raising funds to end violence against women.

Tickets may be reserved at the main branch of Cromaine Library in Hartland, by calling (810) 632-5849, or at the theater box office a half-hour before show times. Prices are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and students. Groups of 10 or more will receive a $1/ticket discount.

The Hartland Players Main Stage is being produced by Jenifer Thomas and directed by Connie Lee. Local cast members include Janet Winn, Savannah Lee, Jennie Ross, Terri Preiss, Stephani Bell, MaryJo Bell and Taleena Williams.
