The Florence B. Dearing Museum's happy-faced scarecrow entry into the Hartland Heritage Day contest arrives from the basement of the Marshall Postal Museum.

After checking with her friend and curator, museum docent Hildy Foley brought the borrowed scarecrow to Hartland, and for the time being, the Marshall scarecrow is greeting and catching up with the locals of Hartland from his post on the front porch of the museum.

“So basically, that’s all he is,” said Foley, a Hartland former postmaster. “He’s on loan.”
