With Video: Kahuna Brings Fresh-Roasted Coffee Beans to Hartland

Kahuna Coffee adds fresh roasted coffee to their menu.

After serving the Hartland community for past few years, owner Cathy Jones decided to invest in a machine to roast coffee in house because according to her, coffee beans are tasteless and its the art of roasting this gives them the best flavor.

With the addition of their new machine, built by a Michigan-based company, will now be offering customers the chance to get their choice of flavored coffee beans roasted to perfection.

Jones says she has been working hard preparing for her latest endeavor and is excited to be bringing a new service to Hartland.

The official launch of the roasting machine will take placye during a "roasting" kick-off party this Friday, June 8 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Customers will also be able to enjoy free samples as well as demonstrations.

Taste, according to barista Hali Kivari, is the biggest reason why come customers prefer the fresh roast beans to the packaged coffee.

"When we sell it to you here," Kivari said. "Having just roasted it, having just grounded it, you don't get any of that bitterness because it's not old, it's fresh."

Prices range from $12.99 a pound for regular blends to $13.99 for specialty blends.
