Kahuna Coffee Creates Hawaiian-Themed Scarecrow

Hartland Heritage Day people's choice contest involves area businesses and groups.

Theme of entry: Tiki

The Kahuna Coffee scarecrow was a team effort and a true homemade project, according to store owner Cathy Jones who gives credit to her staff and family, all who pitched in to help with their creation.

“Kahuna is Hawaiian so we were going for a Hawaiian theme,” Jones said. “But we all had a hand in it.”

Complete with a tiki mask, grass skirt and coffee cup in hand, every detail was a brainstorm from the Kahuna team.

“Even down to the tights it has underneath the grass skirt,” Jones said. “We looked everywhere for the tights. It’s fun to see it all come together.”

Votes must be received by Friday, Sept. 16. Winners will be announced around noon at the chamber Saturday, Sept. 17, on heritage day. Vote categories are: most interesting, most historic or most colorful.
