Last fall, Shona Denton of Hartland Township received a call with an offer she could not refuse.
Denton, the owner of Salon 3, a full-service salon in Milford, was contacted by a few of her former stylists and asked if she would be interested in building another salon in Hartland. If she was interested, her friends told her, she would have a full staff with clientele, including a receptionist, massage therapist, and an esthetician.
On April 4, the Hartland location of Salon 3 opened its doors. At 11337 Highland Road, the shop is nestled in the same strip mall as and .

"She chose Hartland because we asked her to; we called her," said Salon 3 stylist Lori Truax.
Most of Salon 3's 15 staff members worked for Denton previously. As the original owner of , also in Hartland, she cultivated a family environment of which Truax and company enjoyed until Denton sold that salon almost six years ago. Three years later she opened Salon 3, named so for being the third salon she has owned, in Milford.

"She's the best. She really cares about her staff, personally and professionally," Truax said.
Salon 3 offers a full range of hair services, waxing, facials, massage and soon- manicures and pedicures. They carry Redken products and are the exlusive salon for Kevin Murphy haircare products in Livingston County.
Salon 3 is open Monday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday 9 a.m. until 8 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Appointments can be made by calling 810-632-0333.
