Tooth Fairy Scarecrow Casts Magic at Hartland Smilemakers

Nothing goes better with kids and teeth than the Tooth Fairy, according to the staff of Hartland Smilemakers, which is why they decided to use that as the dental office's Heritage Day scarecrow theme. It was a team effort of brainstorming and creative thinking using supplies from the dollar store and people’s homes that helped create their team project.

"How appropriate, the Tooth Fairy for the dentist office,” Smilemaker's Office Manager Denise Birchmeier said.

“We kind of brainstormed and rolled with it,” said Birchmeier who also explained how the staff came up with waterproof ideas that included sponges on her wings and a cutting board as her crown to help keep their costume intact during inclement weather. 

The completed scarecrow now stands waving to the passing cars with her wand, tiara and her sash naming her Miss Tooth Fairy 2011. The 8-foot-tall scarecrow is surrounded by several kiddie scarecrows and is a sight that is hard to miss as you drive along M-59.

Votes must be received by Friday, Sept. 16. Winners will be announced around noon at the chamber Saturday, Sept. 17, on heritage day. Vote categories are: most interesting, most historic or most colorful.
