Cromaine Prepares to Dazzle with The Great Gatsby in 2014

Cromaine will read and celebrate The Great Gatsby during The Big Read 2014

With the summer blockbuster already in movie theaters, fans of F. Scott Fitzgerald will have another opportunity in 2014 to once again celebrate the extravagant world of high fashion, fast living and dangerous love triangles when The Great Gatsby comes to Hartland.

The Cromaine District Library recently announced it was once again the recipient of grant money for the Big Read program, which will focus on the Fitzgerald classic in the spring of 2014.

“We are honored and privileged to have received our sixth Big Read grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and Arts Midwest,”Cromaine Director Ceci Marlow said. “Their continued support shows that we are presenting quality programming that the NEA supports with both their name and their funding.

“The Big Read allows Cromaine to present events to our community that would not take place without these supporting funds,” she said.

The 77 communities selected to receive Big Read grants promote and carry out community-based reading programs, according to a press release, which feature activities such as read-a-thons, book discussions, lectures, movie screenings, and performing arts events.

Participating communities also receive high-quality, free-of-charge educational materials. For more information on The Big Read, visit neabigread.org
