Brighton Facility Received Contaminated Steroid Linked to Meningitis, Fire Destroys Downtown Byron

Here is a list of the top five most interesting stories from around the Hartland area this week.

1. State Health officials reported that a Brighton facility was one of four Michigan facilities that received shipments of steroid medication suspected of causing a Fungal Meningitis outbreak, according to the Brighton Patch.

2. More charges could be added against David Eddie Collins, connected to the spring shooting incident that occurred on Linden Road in Fenton Township, according to the Fenton Patch. 

3. 34-year-old Robin Ann Davies from Hamburg Township, who was charged with trying to run over her husband, will avoid any further time behind bars, according to WHMI. The Hamburg woman was sentenced to time already served in the Livingston County Jail. 

4. Investigators say the fire that destroyed several historic buildings in downtown Byron early Monday morning was arson, NBC 25reports. State fire officials said the blaze was intentionally started in the apartment above Janelle’s restaurant.

5. Waterford Township police found a 2.5-foot alligator living in the basement of a home where a man was growing marijuana, the Oakland Press said. The man also had four pit bulls, which were taken to a residence in White Lake Township (along with the gator) because Waterford has an ordinance prohibiting pit bull ownership.
