Get Out: Art Walk, Cardboard Regatta, Balloonfest Highlight Busy Weekend

Here's a look at happenings around the greater Hartland area.

It’s almost Friday (and it may be by the time you ready this), and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend and beyond. Here are some ideas …

1.

When/where: 4:30-8 p.m. Friday at participating Fenton businesses. Visitor's booth will be near , 301 S. LeRoy St.

Why go: will participate in what organizers hope will become an annual event. Visitors will be able to come to a booth in downtown Fenton and receive an artist passport, which will include instructions and artist and merchant information. People then can visit participating businesses to observe the art, meet the artists and explore what each store has to offer. Visitors also will be able to win and Patch prizes.

Where/when: Howell High School Complex, 2 p.m. Thursday — so it's already started — to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Why go: All weekend long, attendees can enjoy carnival rides, artist booths, family-centric entertainment such as jugglers and magicians. And of course, the main event is watching more than 50 hot air balloons take flight in the annual competition.

Pricing: $12 daily pass, $20 for a weekend pass.

Where/when: , 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Why go: Support the Rotary Club of Hartland in this fundrasier that will support its charitable efforts in the community while watching a flotilla of cardboard boats compete on Lake Walden. In addition, there will be food, refreshments, games for the kids, kayak racing, SUP demo and lessons, dancing, vendors, a silent auction and 50/50 drawings.

Pricing: $10.00/car donation or $5.00/adult donation.

Where/when: , 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Why go: Listen to recent 2011 Hartland graduate Emily Rooker perform.

Pricing: Free.

5. CIVIL WAR SESQUICENTENNIAL

Where/when: Saturday and Sunday, Central Park in Milford.

Why go: Events include an appearance from President Abraham Lincoln, Custer and Civil War re-enactors, story tellers, musicians, a Zonta Club baking contest, an official Civil War era wedding and more.

Price: Free, depending on the activity you attend.
