Get Out: Boat Parade, Aquathlon, Lynyrd Skynyrd Top Our List

Greater Hartland area and beyond offer multiple activities this holiday weekend.

It’s nearly the Fourth of July holiday weekend and you've decided to stay home, but you're looking for something to do.

In Hartland, the biggest event is the fireworks at dusk Saturday at , but you would need to be a member of the resort or a guest of one to get in.

Here are our other top suggestions for this weekend from the greater Hartland area to DTE Energy Music Theatre:

When/where: 2 p.m. Saturday at Mitchell's Marina, 2543 Duck Lake Road, in Highland.

Why go: The boat parade, part of White Lake's Independence Day celebrations, will begin promptly at 2:15 p.m. Come out and see boats decorated for this year's theme "Christmas in July."

Price: Free.

When/Where: 10 a.m. Sunday at Howell City Park, Barnard and Thompson streets, in Howell. Check-in begins at 8 a.m. There's an open water swim at 9 a.m.

Why go: Run 2K, Swim 750 meters in Thompson Lake and run another 2K in a rare multi-sport event.

Price: $35.

When/Where: Events begin at 7 a.m. Monday morning in downtown Brighton.

Why go:  plus a pancake breakfast kick-off events that include a 10 a.m. parade. 

Cost: Races and the breakfast have a fee, but the parade is free.

When/where: 10 a.m to 10 p.m. Monday, downtown Fenton.

Why go: Head "Up North" for 10 minutes on U.S. 23 for a parade, rubber ducky regatta, food, fun and more.

Price: Free.

5. LYNYRD SKYNYRD

When/where: 7:30 p.m. Monday, DTE Energy Music Theatre, 7774 Sashabaw Rd., Clarkston.

Why go: DTE Energy Music Theatre is open for the summer. Go enjoy some live music in a great setting.

Price: $59.50, $39.50 and $29.50 pavilion and $18 lawn.
