It's Tuesday today. Here are five tidbits of news and information that we hope you'll find useful or entertaining.

1. The weather

There will be a 20 percent chance of rain after 2pm today with mostly sunny skies and a high near 54, according to the National Weather Service. After 8 pm, there will be a 50 percent chance of rain with cloudy skies and a low around 43.

2. Fuel prices

Here's a quick daily survey of the regular per-gallon price, according to gasbuddy.com —

  • Shell: $3.59
  • : $3.49
  • : $3.59 (cash is 10 cents lower)
  • Lowest price at Hickory Ridge and M-59 in Highland: $3.32 at Citgo.
  • Lowest price in the Fenton area: $3.40 at — Marathon at 1375 N LeRoy and Glenwood.
  • Lowest price in the Brighton area: $3.40 at Costco, 6700 Whitmore Lake Rd.

3. Celebrity servers at Hartland Big Boy

Local principals and teachers are serving up fun and food from 5-7:30 p.m. this evening as Hartland Big Boy hosts its . Ten percent of the proceeds from the event will go to the Hartland Optimist Club which uses the money to aid needy families at Christmas and for youth events.

4. Village Elementary student donates his hard-earned money

Parker Thomas, a student at school saved up his allowance to donate to a good cause, according to an article from the Press & Argus. Parker chose the Adopt-A-Pet program in Fenton that provides care to animals in need.

5. Hartland trivia

Congrats to Linda Cortichiato who answered Monday's question. In honor of Cromaine Library's upcoming Haunted Hartland tours this weekend, Ceci Marlow, the Cromaine Director confirmed that a 2006 investigation of paranormal activity detected a strong presence at three Hartland locations. Where are they? Answer: Cromaine library, Hartland Music Hall and the Florence B. Dearing Museum.

Tuesday's question: The Hartland Equestrian Team won the state championship edging out Oxford this past weekend. Last year, the team came in second place and lost the title to which team?
