Here is Thursday's edition of "Good morning Hartland" — five tidbits of news and information that we hope you'll find useful every morning  Monday through Friday. Always included (we hope) is a video from someone wishing every one "good morning" as part of a message to our community. See video at right.

1. The weather

National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for the area following heavy localized overnight rains of 1-2 inches Wednesday and overnight. The advisory warns of minor flooding along small streams and lower water crossings. It expires at 7 a.m. Thursday.

Meantime, the rain is expected to continue as a stationary front brings more thunderstorms until about 2 p.m., according to the weather service. Even with the wet weather and a 90 percent chance of precipitation, expect temperatures to climb to 86 degrees.

On Thursday night, there will be a 60 percent chance of rain that begins after 8 p.m. with a low around 71 degrees, according to the weather service.

2. Fuel prices

  • Lowest price in the Fenton area: $3.84 at eight stations, including four at Owen Road and U.S. 23.
  • Lowest price in the Brighton area: $3.77 at Costco, 6700 Whitmore Lake Rd, in Green Oak Township.

3. Congrats

Two graduates have each won $1,000 continuing education scholarships from Burger King franchisee Quality Dining Inc., reports the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus — Kara Laird, who plans to study science at the University of Michigan-Flint, and Tara Lowe, who plans to study nuring at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, the paper reported this week.

4. Travel soccer team with Hartland players loses opener

The Michigan Hawks lost 2-0 the Scorpions Elite from Massachusetts in the teams' opener Wednesday in U.S. Youth Soccer national championships in Phoenix, according to results on the tournament's website.

Kaylee Phillips and Chaylynne McNitt of Hartland are two of four Livingston County soccer players competing on U16 team. The squad plays 8 a.m. mountain time Thursday against the Mustang Blast of California and 8 a.m. mountain time Friday against the Dallas Texans. The team's record over the three games will determine if it advances in the tournament.

5. Hartland trivia

No one was able to answer Wednesday's question about the former Township Hall next . It was opened in June 1970. The previous hall was donated to the Hartland Area Historical Society and became the Florence B. Dearing Museum. The is located at 2655 Clark Rd.
