Hey, Hartland. Welcome to Wednesday. Here are five tidbits of news and information that we hope you'll find useful or entertaining. And remember always included in this Monday through Friday feature is a video (at right) from someone wishing every one "good morning" as part of a message to our community.

1. The weather

It'll be windy but cooler and sunny with a high near 73, according to the National Weather Service. High will be around 83. Winds gusts could reach 29 miles per hour. Lows overnight will be around 54 degrees.

2. Fuel prices

Here's a quick daily survey of the regular per-gallon price, according to gasbuddy.com β€”

  • : $3.59
  • : $3.79 ($3.69 β€” cash only)
  • : $3.89
  • Lowest price in the Fenton area: $3.49 at the Marathon station at Silver Lake and Lincoln.
  • Lowest price in the Brighton area: $3.64 at Costco, 6700 Whitmore Lake Rd, in Green Oak Township.

3. Storm caused power outage

A Tuesday afternoon storm knocked out power to more than 1,000 in the central Hartland area, according to Scott Simons of DTE Energy.

The outage forced the early closure of the two branches of the . The library will be open Wednesday, although the library's website is down.

As of Wednesday morning, about 500 customers still had no power, although Simons expected fixes should be completed sometime today. For DTE updates on the outage, click here.

4. One more Hartland resident is a finalist in singing competition

Lindsey Klebba of Hartland is a finalist in the Livingston Sensation singing competition, according to an article in the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus. She joins Lexee Longwell and Samantha Parks, 2011 Hartland High School graduates, among the 12 finalists.

The finals are 2 p.m. Aug. 21 during the last day of the Howell Melon Festival. The contest is sponsored by the newspaper. You can vote for a people's choice winner online by clicking here.

5. Hartland trivia

Tuesday's question proved to be a difficult one. Old 96 was Lillian's caboose β€” donated for additional exhibit space for the Florence B. Dearing Museum and housed across the street. It later became a flower shop but because of break-ins ultimately had to be removed.
