Hello, Hartland and welcome to Friday. Here are five tidbits of news and information that we hope you'll find useful or entertaining. And remember always included in this Monday through Friday feature is a video (at right) from someone wishing every one "good morning" as part of a message to our community.

1. The weather

Looks like another great day where you don't need an air conditioner with sunny skies, light winds and a high of 81 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Lows overnight will be around 62 degrees.

But clouds return along with the possibility of showers and thunderstorms  Saturday (40 percent chance), the NWS predicts. High will be near 75 degrees with winds gusts of 20 miles per hour. Rain is even more likely Saturday night (60 percent chance) with a low of 62 degrees.

On Sunday,  more clouds and rain possibility (40 percent chance) with a high near 73. Skies should finally clear Sunday night as lows reach into the high 50s.

2. Fuel prices

Here's a quick daily survey of the regular per-gallon price, according to gasbuddy.com

  • : $3.55
  • : $3.59
  • : $3.89
  • Lowest price in the Fenton area: $3.47 at a Clark Station at LeRoy and Third streets and a Marathon at Silver Lake Road and Lincoln.
  • Lowest price in the Brighton area: $3.63 at Costco, 6700 Whitmore Lake Rd, in Green Oak Township.

3. Hartland High School Class of '81 Reunion is Saturday

Hartland High School class of 1981 will be having its 30th class reunion 6 p.m. Saturday at 59 West in Highland, according to the calendar at the website of WHMI (93.5 FM). The listing says to contact Beth Brooks at bbuckley_43@yahoo.com or call 517-223-0972.

4. Deadline extended to enter Hartland Firefighters Association Golf Scramble

Spots are available to play in the the 7th annual Hartland Firefighters Association golf outing that tees off 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, at . Sponsorship opportunities also remain open.

During the event, the association plans to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. In addition, the assocation also plans to use some of the proceeds to help Dominic Tyner, an 8-year-old Hartland boy who's battling eosinophilic esophagitis, a rare autoimmune disease. Cost is $70 per person and the price includes 18 holes of golf, including special event holes with prizes as well as lunch, dinner and a raffle.

5. Hartland trivia

Congrats to Deb Curcuru for correctly answering that there are 27 holes at golf course. She's answered two in a row.
