Good Morning Hartland

Check out the weather, fuel prices and more for Oct. 7, 2011.

It's Friday after the big Tiger win. Not the easiest game to watch, was it? And here are five tidbits of news and information that we hope you'll find useful or entertaining.

1. The weather

There's a dense fog advisory this morning until 9 a.m., according to the National Weather Service, so be careful on the road. The rest of the day looks great with sunny skies and a high near 78. Tonight it'll be mostly clear with a low around 53.

On Saturday, more great weather is expected with sunshine and a high of 81 during the day and overnight lows falling to the mid 50s.

On Sunday, expect more sun and a high of 78 with clear skies Sunday night and temperatures that drop to 51.

2. Fuel prices

Here's a quick daily survey of the regular per-gallon price, according to gasbuddy.com —

  • : $3.39
  • : $3.49 (cash is 10 cents lower)
  • Shell: $3.49
  • Lowest price in the Fenton area: $3.27 at the Sunoco at Hartland and Carmer.
  • Lowest price in the Brighton area: $3.32 at Costco at 6700 Whitmore Lake Rd.

3. Service dog missing from Brighton Township

There's a , a service dog that disappeared from the Mann Creek area in September, according to a story on Brighton Patch. The dog helps Missouri resident and amputee Randy Archer, who was visiting the area but has since returned home.

Rex is a neutered male, Lab/Chow mix that weighs about about 100 pounds. He has a dark brown coat that almost appears black and was last seen wearing a green harness.

4. Area garage sales

There are at least three Hartland area garage sales this weekend, according to gslar.com, with several others in the surrounding areas. Here are some of the highlights:

  • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 2969 Parkway Place in Hartland near M-59 and Tipsico Lake Road. Items include kids clothes and household items.
  • 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 8100 Brophy Road in Hartland north of M-59. Items include baby clothes and toys.
  • 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at 5300 Argentine Road in Oceola Township north of M-59. This moving sale includes furniture, car parts, scooters and a foosball table.

5. Hartland trivia

Congrats to Linda Bowen who answered Thursday's question: In what decade in Hartland could you buy a dozen eggs for 15 cents, a broom for 31 cents and a hank of thread for 6 cents? Answer: The 1850s.
