It's Wednesday and here are five tidbits of news and information that we hope you'll find useful or entertaining.

1. The weather

It should be another gorgeous day that's sunny with a high of 71 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight, temperatures will dip to about 47 degrees with patch fog after 4 a.m.

2. Fuel prices

Here's a quick daily survey of the regular per-gallon price, according to gasbuddy.com —

  • : $3.31
  • : $3.42 (cash is 10 cents lower)
  • Shell: $3.49
  • Lowest price in the Fenton area: $3.27 at nine stations, including four on Owen Road at U.S. 23.
  • Lowest price in the Brighton area: $3.33 at Costco at 6700 Whitmore Lake Rd and Citgo at E Grand River Ave and O'Doherty Rd.

3. Newspaper profiles Hartland-based company that sells 'Deer Crack'

Hartland-based Deer Crack LLC has its product sold in 46 states and is seeing a 10 percent increase in business with the lifting of the deer bait ban, according to an article in the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus.

Business partners Tom Parshall and Rich Owens make the product in a Hartland barn and it retails for about $6, the article said.

4. Hartland resident earns degree

Kyle Haslick of Hartland earned a degree from Western Michigan University at the end of the summer session, according to a report in the Press & Argus.

5. Hartland trivia
