1. The weather

Watch out for some patchy fog first thing this morning. There still be a chance of rain today — 40 percent — after 8 a.m., according to the National Weather Service, but we should see party sunny skies and a high near 67 degrees. Winds will develop from the south southeast between 10 and 13 miles per hour. Gusts could get as high as 18 mph. There's a 50 chance of showers tonight with a low around 50 and light winds.

2. Fuel prices

Here's a quick daily survey of the regular per-gallon price, according to gasbuddy.com —

  • : $3.59
  • Shell: $3.68
  • : $3.69 (cash is 10 cents lower)
  • Lowest price in the Fenton area: $3.32 at the Marathon station at Silver Lake and Lincoln.
  • Lowest price in the Brighton area: $3.33 at Costco at 6700 Whitmore Lake Rd in Green Oak Township.

3. Hartland youth archer profiled in newspaper

Hartland 12-year-old Jeremy Gee's passion and achievement in archery was chronicled in a Monday article in the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus.

The White Lake Middle School seventh-grader, the article said, has recently finished first at the Michigan State University Fall Classic, took second place a State Archers of Michigan shoot in Oakland County and won a bronze at the Michigan Archer's Association Target 900.

4. County eyes tax-delinquent property in Hartland

Livingston County could buy tax-delinquent property in Hartland during a state scavanger sale Wednesday in a deal officials say is a "win-win," according to an article in the Press & Argus.

Officials said it could help the county with facility needs after authorizing county Drain Commissioner Brian Jonckheere to make the purchased at a meeting Friday, the article said. He declined to give further details in hopes of not jeopardizing the sale. Minimum bids are $50.

The purchase also would require an agreement with Hartland Township, the report said.

Hartland Township officials have been meeting to discuss a purchase of real estate in executive session at recent meetings, although it's unclear whether the two are related.

5. Hartland trivia

No one was able to get Monday's question, which probably was the toughest in awhile: Where was the first telephone in Hartland located? Answer: Burt Marling's store.
