Welcome to Wednesday. Here are four tidbits of news and information that we hope you'll find useful or entertaining. (It's four instead of the normal five because of soooo many garage sales).

1. The weather

Watch out for occasional showers with a high near 62, according to the National Weather Service. Chance of rain is 80 percent. Tonight, rain is still possible but unlikely (20 percent chance) under mostly cloudy with a low around 50 degrees.

2. Fuel prices

Here's a quick daily survey of the regular per-gallon price, according to gasbuddy.com —

  • : $3.41
  • Shell: $3.68
  • : $3.69 (cash is 10 cents lower)
  • Lowest price in the Fenton area: $3.32 at four stations at Owen Road and U.S. 23.
  • Lowest price in the Brighton area: $3.33 at Costco at 6700 Whitmore Lake Rd in Green Oak Township.

3. Area garage sales this week

  • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday at 4819 Stella Drive in Hartland, according to gsalr.com, off Clyde Road. Items include clothes of all ages and gengers and a loft bed set with a dresser.
  • 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 2478 Lorraina Lane in Hartland, according to gsalr.com, off Clark Road. Items include toys such as a pink motorized Barbie Jeep, Leap Frog shopping cart and a Crayola drawing easel.
  • 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 9120 Leyland Ct, in Hartland's subdivison, according to gsalr.com. Items include "nice clothes for teens … household items (and) furniture."
  • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at 10546 LaFollette, near , according to gsalr.com, off Taylor Road. Items include antiques, holiday decorations and hundreds of DVDs.

4. Hartland trivia

Congrats to Charlotte, who figured out Tuesday's question thanks to incorrect guesses and some hints: What important construction project in Hartland's history cost $168,000? Answer: The construction of the U.S. 23 routed around the village area.
