It's Wednesday and hopefully another day of calm January weather. Here are some tidbits of news and information that we hope you'll find useful or entertaining.

  • : $3.38
  • Shell: $3.53
  • Mobil: $3.48
  • Lowest price at in Highland: $3.26 at Citgo S Milford Rd near Watkins Blvd.
  • Lowest price in the Fenton area: $3.23 at the Marathon station at Silver Lake and Lincoln.
  • Lowest price in the Brighton area: $3.27 at Costco at 6700 Whitmore Lake Rd.

3. Video Entries for "Make the Play" contest are now being accepted.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is now accepting video entries for their “Make the Play” for a healthier Michigan kid video contest. Michigan students in grades 4- 8 are asked to share their ideas about promoting healthy habits. The winner will receive a school assembly featuring Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford and the opportunity to be featured as a vlogger (video blogger) on AHealthierMichigan.org.

The Knights of Columbus will be hosting a Daddy-Daughter Dance which takes place this Friday from 7-10 p.m. The dance will be held at St. Mary's Church, 10601 Dexter-Pinckney Road in Pinckney.

5. Hartland trivia

Congrats to Jacqi Schaller for correctly answering Monday's question — In the 1930's, the Planning Committee of the Hartland Area Project created a department of Health, Education and Welfare. Who was this headed by?  Answer: Marguerite Crouse.
