Hartland Athlete Signs Letter of Intent

Hartland senior Samantha Dibert has committed to Lourdes University for volleyball.

With her family and friends as witnesses and unable to contain her big grin, Hartland High School senior Samantha Dibert signed her Letter of Intent on Tuesday afternoon.

The volleyball player has committed to play for Lourdes University in Ohio, a school that appealed to the Hartland senior because of its size and academic offerings.

“They’re like their own little community,” Dibert said. “And I just wanted to know everybody and I didn’t want a big, huge school.”

Recommended by her high school coach, Lourdes University volleyball coach Greg Reitz said it is Dibert’s athletic ability that makes her so appealing as a new addition to his team.

“She can jump well and she has the potential to get better on some of the skills she hasn’t used as much throughout high school,” Reitz said.

It will also be her experience and large amounts of playing time during her last year at Hartland that will help her succeed in college, according to Reitz.

"The more you play, the more you’re in the game, the better the transition goes," he said.

Added in was her personality on the court and her connection with her future teammates that helped both sides decide that Lourdes University was the right fit for the young volleyball player.

Leaving behind her Hartland teammates next year, Dibert says she will miss the “team bond” but is looking forward to continuing on in the sport she calls “high-paced” and playing at the next level.
