Hartland Rotary Cardboard Regatta Ready to Sail

New event begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at Waldenwoods Resort & Conference Center.

It's expected at least eight cardboard ships will compete in Saturday's inaugural Cardboard Regatta on Lake Walden at about 1:30 p.m. — a fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Hartland that organizers aim to make its signature event.

Here's highlights of the schedule for the 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. activities at :

  • 10 a.m. to closing — Beer tent, bounce house, vendor exhibits
  • 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Grill open
  • 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. — Viewing of the boats and voting for the Pride of the Fleet Award.
  • 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Kids kayak, dancing, Stand Up Paddle boating
  • 1:30 p.m. — Winner of the Pride of the Fleet Award announced
  • 1:30 p.m. — Regatta races and pirate derby
  • 3:30 p.m. — Silence auction winners announced
  • 4 p.m. — Awards ceremony
