A small band of walkers stopped in Hartland on Thursday for a day of rest during their week and a half trek from Detroit to Lansing to promote peace and listen to residents.
Hosted by Hartland residents Chuck and Mares Hirchert during the stay, the group had breakfast at before relaxing for a few hours.
Later in the day, they toured the village area of Hartland, stopping at the main branch of the , the and the . They also visited and the Hartland Senior Center.
The group is one of three converging on the state Capitol on Tuesday to present a petition seeking a statewide peace and justice commission.
This walk, which began in Detroit on July 30, is organized by Moveable Peace, a Michigan-based group founded in 2010 that promotes peace through community events.
It already has visited several communities including Brighton and Howell.
