The 25th Anniversary of the Brighton Optimist's Fishing Derby for kids provided a morning of free and fabulous fun for local families.
This year marked the 25th anniversary of the Brighton Optimist Club's Fishing Derby for Kids and despite some early cloudy skies, the was a hive of activity on Saturday morning as kids (with the able help of parents and grandparents), dropped their lines in the water in the hopes of snagging a prize-winning fish.
Kids from all over the area competed in the fishing derby, and also took advantage of free face painting, pizza and drinks, and enjoyed exhibits provided by the Howell Conference and Nature Center, Heavner Canoe Rental of Milford, Huron-Clinton Metroparks, Station 32 of the Brighton Area Fire Department and games sponsored by local merchants.
Entertainment during lunch was provided by the Jumpin' All Stars of Brighton, a competition jump rope team that has competed in New York, appeared in a recent Chrysler commercial and in the feature film "Family Weekend."
